Dwarf crocodiles in Gabon's caves filmed hunting bats

Original: 🐊 NEW: In # Gabon ’s # Abanda Caves, dwarf # crocodiles roughly 1.5 meters long live in permanent darkness among mounds

Researchers have captured remote-camera footage of dwarf crocodiles hunting bats inside Gabon's Abanda Caves for the first time. The roughly 1.5-meter-long reptiles live in permanent darkness among mounds of bat guano. Scientists knew the crocodiles ate bats, but the nocturnal mid-flight hunt had never been observed until now, offering new insight into one of the world's unusual cave-dwelling predators.

Why now: The first-ever footage of cave crocodiles snatching bats mid-flight is a striking new wildlife discovery.
