California Legalizes Balcony Solar Panels, But Hold Off Buying
Original: California Legalized Plug-In Balcony Solar Panels, but Don’t Buy Any Just Yet
California has legalized plug-in balcony solar panels, allowing apartment dwellers to mount small solar units on railings and plug them into home outlets. However, regulators and industry watchers are urging consumers to wait, as the state must still finalize rules on equipment certification, utility interconnection and metering before sales can legally begin.
Why now: The new law is fresh news and residents interested in cheap solar power are being warned the products are not yet actually available.
