Savannah youth groups push education over arrests amid gang violence
Original: Savannah youth groups push education over arrests amid gang violence response
Youth organizations in Savannah, Georgia are advocating for education-based interventions rather than arrests as the city responds to gang violence. The groups argue that investing in young people through schooling and support programs will be more effective at reducing crime than enforcement alone. The push comes as local officials weigh how to address ongoing gang-related activity in the community.
Why now: Savannah is actively debating how to respond to gang violence, and these groups are offering an alternative to law-enforcement-led approaches.
