Tennessee Execution Survivor Christa Pike Unconscious on Ventilator, Lawyers Say
Christa Pike, the only woman on Tennessee's death row, is unconscious and on a ventilator, according to her attorneys, after she survived a scheduled execution. Lawyers say she remains in critical condition following the botched lethal injection, raising fresh concerns about the state's execution procedures and renewed calls for a review of how Tennessee carries out capital punishment.
Why now: Her lawyers' disclosure that she survived the execution and is in critical condition has drawn attention to Tennessee's execution methods.
