Research suggests songbirds share navigation tips mid-flight
Original: ๐๏ธ # News : Fascinating # research finds # song # birds ๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ฆ communicate mid-flight with other species, possibly sharing
New research indicates songbirds may communicate with other species while flying, possibly exchanging navigation information during migration. The findings challenge the long-held view that migratory birds travel and navigate largely on their own. The research was shared alongside a call to protect birds and a campaign urging a boycott of palm oil, linking habitat destruction to threats facing migratory species.
Why now: The findings challenge the established view of solitary bird migration, and environmentalists are tying the story to palm oil deforestation concerns.
