Ethiopia Claims TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea
Original: ‘TPLF Backed by Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea’: Ethiopia Claims Foes Target Abiy’s Regime | Firstpost Africa
Ethiopia's government has accused the TPLF of receiving backing from Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea in what it calls an effort to undermine Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's administration. The claim escalates tensions with neighbours already at odds with Addis Ababa over the Nile dam, border disputes and post-war fallout from the Tigray conflict.
Why now: The allegation points to a widening regional coalition against Ethiopia's government, raising fears of renewed conflict in the Horn of Africa.
