The whistleblower whose evidence underpinned the Premier League's financial rule case against Manchester City is reportedly set to lose witness protection. The report by the BBC has drawn attention because the individual's disclosures were central to the allegations of breached financial regulations, and their loss of protected status raises questions about their safety and the wider legal proceedings.
Why now: The Premier League's long-running financial charges case against Manchester City remains one of football's biggest stories, so new developments about the key witness attract immediate attention.
