Ohio fails national review of sex education policy
Original: Ohio gets a failing mark on sex education policy from national group Ohio’s curriculum stresses abstinence as a general
A national organization has given Ohio a failing grade on its sex education policy. The state's curriculum emphasizes abstinence as its general approach and mandates only limited instruction on sexually transmitted infections. Critics argue the policy leaves students underinformed, and the grading has drawn attention among education and LGBTQ advocates discussing Ohio's approach to health education standards.
Why now: A national group's report card faulting Ohio's abstinence-focused sex education is drawing criticism and discussion about the state's health curriculum.
