FlyDubai co-pilot was barred by Oman over extremism concerns
Original: FlyDubai co-pilot who nearly crashed plane was barred from flying by Oman over extremism concerns
A FlyDubai co-pilot involved in an incident in which a plane nearly crashed had previously been barred from flying by Omani authorities over concerns about extremism. The revelation has raised questions about how he was cleared to fly for the Dubai-based airline despite the prior ban, and about airline and regulator vetting procedures.
Why now: The reported link between a near-crash incident and prior extremism concerns is prompting questions about pilot vetting and aviation safety oversight.
