Original: Sources - Grizzlies waive Jordan Hawkins weeks after Pels trade

The Memphis Grizzlies have waived guard Jordan Hawkins, according to ESPN sources, just weeks after acquiring him from the New Orleans Pelicans. The move comes before his role with the team could take shape, cutting short his stint in Memphis and making the young shooter a free agent available to other NBA clubs.

Why now: The quick turnaround from trading for Hawkins to waiving him is an unexpected roster decision drawing attention.
