Greece Puts Human Rights Defenders on Trial
Original: Greece: Rights Defenders on Trial
Human Rights Watch reports that human rights defenders in Greece are facing trial, prompting criticism from rights groups who view the prosecution as part of a broader crackdown on those helping migrants and speaking out on humanitarian issues. Observers warn the case could discourage volunteers and NGOs providing aid.
Why now: Concern over the treatment of humanitarian volunteers and the shrinking space for civil society in Greece
