Open Mosque Day coincides with German Unity Day
Original: Am Tag der deutschen Einheit gibt es auch den Tag der offenen Moschee. Muslime schildern hier, was das Gebetshaus ihnen
Germany's Open Mosque Day takes place on 3 October, the same day as German Unity Day. Muslims in North Rhine-Westphalia, including in Duisburg and Essen, are opening their prayer houses to visitors and describing what the mosque means to them. WDR coverage asks believers what their mosque gives them, inviting the wider public to step inside and talk.
Why now: The two events falling on the same national holiday prompt reflection on Muslim life and belonging in Germany.
