Russian forces launched one of their largest drone barrages of the war overnight, sending 157 Shahed-type strike drones, including 45 jet-powered models, along with Gerber and decoy drones against Ukraine. Ukrainian air defences reported shooting down or neutralising 131 of the drones as of 09:00, though any drones that got through raised concern over damage to infrastructure and residential areas.
Why now: The sheer scale of the overnight drone assault, among the largest recorded, is drawing attention to Russia's escalating air campaign against Ukraine.
