Devon community tracks sewage spills in River Dart
Original: 'It's shocking really': Devon community tracks River Dart sewage spills https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/oct
A community group in Devon has built an online platform, River Hub, allowing residents to monitor sewage spills and storm overflows into the River Dart. Volunteers say the scale of pollution they have documented is shocking, and the project gives locals real-time data on water quality. The initiative reflects growing public frustration over wastewater discharges into English rivers by water companies.
Why now: Public anger over sewage pollution of UK rivers continues to drive coverage and community-led monitoring efforts.
