London's Metropolitan Police have called on students to move a protest planned for 7 October, the anniversary of the Hamas-led attack on Israel. The force's request has drawn attention amid ongoing tensions over pro-Palestinian demonstrations on university campuses and the policing of gatherings linked to the Israel-Gaza conflict. Critics are likely to debate whether the appeal respects the right to protest.
Why now: The police request touches on the sensitive and ongoing debate over protest rights and the policing of Israel-Gaza-related demonstrations in the UK.
