Vance claims white Americans face discrimination
Original: Vance cites anti-white discrimination
US Vice President JD Vance said white Americans face anti-white discrimination, remarks made amid ongoing debates over diversity programmes and civil-rights enforcement. Supporters say the comments highlight grievances long ignored by mainstream politics, while critics argue he is inflaming racial division and distracting from the administration's policy record. The statement has drawn sharp reaction across the political spectrum.
Why now: A senior US official making claims of anti-white discrimination is polarizing and feeds into current fights over race and policy.
