Commenter ties Israel debates to French identity politics
Original: Waiting on the Jews who constantly talk about “Western Civilization” in defense of Israel to come out strong on the side
A political commentator says he is waiting for those who invoke 'Western Civilization' in defense of Israel to publicly back what he calls the native French people. The remark frames support for Israel and for France's cultural identity as a test of consistency, and it drew substantial engagement as France's debates over immigration, nationalism and identity continue to intensify.
Why now: It feeds into ongoing French and wider Western debates over national identity, immigration and whose side pro-Israel commentators take in those fights.
