Half of UK now wants to rejoin EU, megapoll finds
Original: Half of UK wants to rejoin EU and backing it could drive up Labour vote, megapoll finds
A new megapoll reported by The Guardian suggests half of UK voters want to rejoin the EU, and that backing re-entry could increase Labour's vote share. The findings strengthen advisers in Downing Street who favour negotiating a return, though senior figures in the government remain wary of reopening the Brexit debate.
Why now: Fresh polling suggests a shift in UK public opinion on EU membership with potential electoral implications for Labour.
