Qatar's Prime Minister says Israel rejected a Hamas proposal made soon after the October 7 attacks to release all civilian hostages, with Hamas asking only for a window of time to secure the deal. The claim, attributed to the Qatari mediator, has reignited criticism of Benjamin Netanyahu's wartime decisions and debate over whether hostages could have been freed months earlier.
Why now: Fresh comments from Qatar's PM allege Netanyahu turned down an early hostage-release deal, fuelling anger and debate over the war's conduct.
