North Korean Human Rights Groups Hold Press Conference on POWs in Ukraine
Original: North Korean Human Rights Groups, Press Conference Regarding North Korean POWs in Ukraine [Live]
North Korean human rights organizations are holding a press conference addressing North Korean prisoners of war captured while fighting alongside Russian forces in Ukraine. The groups are expected to call for the protection of the POWs' rights and raise questions about their treatment and possible repatriation. The event is drawing significant public attention in South Korea and internationally, given the rare presence of North Korean soldiers on a European battlefield.
Why now: North Korean troops captured in the Russia-Ukraine war are a new and highly sensitive development, prompting rights groups to speak out publicly.
