Flydubai co-pilot was banned from flying by Oman over extremist views
Original: Co-pilot on Flydubai flight was banned from flying by Oman for extremist views
A co-pilot flying for Flydubai had been barred from flying by Omani authorities over alleged extremist views, according to a France24 report dated October 3, 2026. The revelation raises questions about how the pilot was still operating commercial flights for the Dubai-based airline despite the ban, and scrutiny is likely to fall on aviation safety vetting and information-sharing between Gulf regulators.
Why now: The discrepancy between Oman's flying ban and the pilot's continued role at Flydubai raises aviation security concerns.
