Pope Leo dedicates October prayers to mental health ministry
Pope Leo has dedicated his prayer intentions for October to mental health ministry, asking Catholics worldwide to pray for those affected by mental illness and for those who care for them. The move places mental health at the centre of the Church's global prayer agenda for the month, a step being welcomed as a sign of growing attention to psychological wellbeing within the Church.
Why now: The Pope's choice to focus a full month of prayer on mental health is a notable and relatively unusual gesture drawing public attention.
