World War II veteran Stanley Berman shares his combat story
Original: The Long Blue Line: World War II Combat veteran Stanley Berman tells his story
The United States Coast Guard has published the story of Stanley Berman, a World War II combat veteran, as part of its Long Blue Line series recounting the service's history. The feature gives Berman a platform to tell his own account of wartime service, adding a personal voice to the record of Coast Guard personnel who fought in the Second World War as the number of living veterans of that generation continues to shrink.
Why now: Firsthand accounts from World War II veterans are increasingly rare and resonate as that generation ages.
