How Musk's Doge team disrupted Washington's federal agencies
Original: ‘Elon is my prophet’: how Musk’s Doge team took a wrecking ball to Washington
Elon Musk's 'department of government efficiency' sent young tech workers into federal agencies to slash operations and access data, met with mixed compliance from staff. A Guardian long-read recounts how one civil servant fought to protect immigrant data as the team moved through Washington. Critics call the effort a wrecking ball; supporters frame it as overdue disruption of the federal bureaucracy.
Why now: The Guardian's in-depth account of the Doge team's internal clashes has renewed debate over Musk's influence in government.
