Magenta Solar Panels Produced Surprise Result in Broccoli Trial
Original: When Magenta Solar Panels Were Placed Above Growing Broccoli Something Unexpected Happened
Researchers trialled semi-transparent magenta-tinted solar panels above growing broccoli crops, and the plants responded in an unexpected way. The experiment is part of agrivoltaics research, where panels installed over farmland generate electricity while crops grow beneath them. The unusual colouring is designed to optimise the light spectrum for both power generation and plant growth.
Why now: Agrivoltaics experiments combining solar power generation with food production are attracting attention as demand grows for dual-use farmland solutions.
