Iran Hangs Siavash Jamshidi-Kheirabadi, January Protester Executed
Original: Siavash Jamshidi-Kheirabadi Hanged; One January Protester Hanged Per Week Since March
Iranian authorities have executed Siavash Jamshidi-Kheirabadi by hanging. According to Iran Human Rights, he is at least the latest in a pattern in which roughly one protester from the January demonstrations has been hanged every week since March. Human rights groups say the executions are part of a broader campaign of capital punishment against people arrested in connection with the protests.
Why now: A new execution of a protest-linked detainee is being reported by rights groups documenting an accelerating pace of hangings.
