Environmental campaigners are pressing the UK government to write England's fracking ban permanently into law, warning that Nigel Farage's Reform party wants to lift the moratorium and resume shale gas extraction. Friends of the Earth is running an action calling on the Prime Minister to make the ban irreversible, framing the debate around climate and drilling in England.
Why now: Reform's pledge to revive fracking has reignited pressure on the government to lock in the ban.
