FTL: A new operating system designed for clouds
Original: FTL: A new operating system for clouds
FTL is being presented as a new operating system purpose-built for cloud environments, rather than a traditional OS adapted to them. The project launched its website, ftl-os.org, and the announcement drew attention on Hacker News, where commenters are weighing what a cloud-native operating system could mean for how infrastructure is built and managed.
Why now: The launch of a new operating system aimed specifically at clouds is a notable technical claim, sparking debate among developers about whether it can challenge existing cloud infrastructure approaches.
