The New York Giants released wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as part of roster cuts. The move drew extra attention after linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux admitted he was unaware Beckham had been let go, prompting criticism that the franchise handled the decision poorly. Fans and commentators are debating whether the release was a football decision or a sign of deeper disarray around the team.

Why now: The surprise release of a star player, compounded by a teammate's public ignorance of it, is fueling debate about the Giants' direction.
