Original: Trump says 3-day ceasefire, prisoner swap to occur between Russia and Ukraine
Donald Trump says a three-day ceasefire and a prisoner swap will take place between Russia and Ukraine. The announcement, picked up by US broadcasters including ABC affiliates, suggests movement in efforts to pause fighting in the war that began with Russia's 2022 invasion. Details on timing and scope have not yet been confirmed by Moscow or Kyiv.
Why now: A claimed pause in fighting and prisoner exchange would be a major development in the Russia-Ukraine war.
