Greens criticised over visit to far-right German newspaper

German Green politicians are being criticised online for visiting a right-wing newspaper that, according to critics, has published propaganda supporting Israel's war in Gaza for three years and has praised far-right Israeli politicians such as Bezalel Smotrich. Critics point to texts in the paper that allegedly contained extremist claims, and question why a party positioning itself against the far right would engage with such an outlet.

Why now: The Greens' engagement with an outlet described as right-wing conflicts with the party's anti-far-right stance, prompting sharp backlash.
