A Smithsonian Channel documentary, Black in Space, is drawing renewed attention for examining the intersection of NASA, the civil rights movement and Black history. Posts sharing the film highlight how the space race unfolded against the struggle for racial equality in the United States, and viewers are circulating the documentary during Black History Month discussions of often-overlooked figures.
Why now: renewed interest in the intersection of the space programme and civil rights history, likely tied to Black History Month
