NYC mayor's trick-or-treating street closures draw car-free calls
Original: Why not go # car - free on other days besides # Halloween and celebrating # basketball , # Zohran ? https:// abc7ny.com/
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced the city's largest-ever trick-or-treating streets program, closing roads to cars for Halloween to let children celebrate safely. Critics online are asking why car-free streets are only trialled on Halloween, suggesting the city should go car-free on other days too and linking the idea to community events like basketball celebrations.
Why now: The Halloween street closures have reignited debate over making car-free streets a regular feature in New York City.
