Original: Ukraine fired its first FP-7 ballistic missile in combat. Its maker says next version will do what Ukraine needed since

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on 1 October that Ukraine had used its domestically produced FP-7 ballistic missile in combat for the first time, without naming the target, and said production is now scaling up. The missile's manufacturer says a next version will deliver the capability Ukraine has needed since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

Why now: Ukraine fielding a new domestically developed ballistic missile marks a significant step in its long-range strike capabilities against Russia.
