Flydubai Co-Pilot Flagged for Extremism Before Attack
Original: Flydubai Co-Pilot Was Flagged for Extremism Before Attack, Investigators Say He Acted Alone
Investigators say a Flydubai co-pilot had been flagged for extremist views before carrying out an attack, and have concluded he acted alone. The disclosure raises questions about how the warning signs were handled and whether airline screening procedures could have caught the risk earlier, prompting renewed scrutiny of vetting for flight crew across the region's carriers.
Why now: The finding that a flagged pilot acted alone is raising concerns about airline security vetting and aviation safety.
