Ukraine's National Guard has announced that its Omega special forces unit is forming an international detachment, allowing foreign volunteers to serve within the elite unit. The move builds on Ukraine's existing practice of accepting foreign fighters since Russia's full-scale invasion and signals an effort to attract experienced international personnel into specialized units.
Why now: The announcement is notable because it opens one of Ukraine's elite special units to foreign volunteers amid the ongoing war.
