A Palestinian health official says around 22,000 patients in Gaza are waiting to be medically evacuated for treatment abroad, including roughly 5,600 children. The figure highlights the collapse of Gaza's health system and reliance on cross-border transfers via Rafah and other crossings. Commenters are sharing the number with calls for urgent evacuations and stronger international action to open corridors for wounded and sick children.
Why now: The stark figure of thousands of sick children stranded without treatment is prompting renewed anger over blocked medical evacuations from Gaza.
