Jitiya Vrat: devotees ask when the Paran falls
Original: jitiya ka paran kab hai
Searches are surging around Jitiya Vrat, a festival observed mainly by mothers in Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh for the long life and wellbeing of their children. Alongside questions about the timing of the Paran, the ritual meal that breaks the fast, Hindi outlets are carrying the traditional Katha, recounting the sacrifice of Gandharva king Jimutvahana and the legend of the Nag dynasty that underpins the vrat.
Why now: The festival is being observed now, and devotees need the correct Paran timing to break their fast.
