Al Qaeda urges copycat attacks on Americans aboard planes
Original: Al Qaeda calls for copycats to target US citizens on planes while praising Dubai flight hijacker: ‘America will end’
Al Qaeda has issued a call for followers to target US citizens on airplanes, while praising a hijacker linked to a Dubai flight and declaring that 'America will end'. The statement marks a fresh propaganda push by the terror network to inspire lone-actor attacks against civil aviation, and security officials are likely to scrutinise threats to US carriers and passengers.
Why now: A new Al Qaeda statement openly inciting attacks on US air travellers raises terrorism concerns and prompts security discussion.
