Data Centers Accused of Hiding Water and Power Use

Original: Data Centers Are Hiding How Much Water and Power They Consume - Gadget Review https://www. gadgetreview.com/data-centers

A Gadget Review report claims data centers are concealing the true scale of their water and electricity consumption. Although European rules require facilities to report energy and water use, fewer than one in four have reportedly complied. Critics say the lack of transparency makes it harder to assess the environmental cost of cloud services and AI-driven expansion, renewing pressure on regulators to enforce disclosure.

Why now: Growing concern over the environmental footprint of data centers amid AI expansion and weak compliance with EU reporting rules.
