Argentina thrash Burkina Faso 7-0 in Messi farewell friendly
Original: argentina - burkina faso
Argentina beat Burkina Faso 7-0 in a friendly match serving as part of Lionel Messi's farewell with the national team. The buildup was chaotic: Burkina Faso's delegation travelled to Argentina three days late amid doubts over whether the game would go ahead. Argentine media criticised the AFA's scheduling of the fixture, with Mundo Deportivo calling it a sloppy affair and La Nación accusing the federation of treating the opponent as a mere sparring partner.
Why now: The lopsided 7-0 scoreline, Messi's farewell angle and the organisational chaos around Burkina Faso's late arrival are drawing wide attention across Spanish-speaking countries.
