Mexico confirms US border deployment as 'mirror operations'
Original: operación espejo
The Mexican government says the United States' military deployment along the shared border is part of what it calls 'mirror operations', coordinated security moves between the two countries. Officials in Mexico are framing the troop presence as a joint effort rather than a unilateral American action, and the term is drawing attention as debate continues over US-Mexico border security cooperation.
Why now: The Mexican government's characterization of the US border military deployment as 'mirror operations' is new and touches on a sensitive bilateral issue.
