Large crowds of demonstrators took to the streets in Spain, calling for the resignation of socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez with chants of 'Sanchez, resignation now'. Organisers and supporters describe the protests as patriotic, and some commentators link them to recent anti-government marches in the United Kingdom against Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Sanchez's government has not announced any change in response.

Why now: Public anger at Sanchez's government has escalated into mass street protests, echoing similar anti-government demonstrations in the UK.
