The Gochang Hwang Yunseok Library, completed in Gochang County, South Korea, by architecture firm Yoo Hyunjoon + Partners (Hyunjoon Yoo Architects), is drawing attention for its design around a huge roof and integrated bookshelves that create what its architects call a 'public living room'. The project, featured as 'Under the Tree', is being discussed as an example of rethinking the library's role in the digital age.

Why now: The new library's distinctive architecture and its reimagining of libraries for the digital era are attracting interest in design circles.
