Andy Burnham floats idea of UK rejoining EU
Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester and a potential Labour leadership contender, has raised the idea of the United Kingdom rejoining the European Union. The remarks touch one of the most divisive issues in British politics, reigniting debate over Brexit and where Labour stands on future relations with Brussels, with strong public reaction on both sides.
Why now: A prominent Labour politician reopening the EU membership debate challenges the party's post-Brexit stance and fuels leadership speculation.
