Hashem Khastar: The Teacher Teaching a Lesson of Resistance
Original: Hashem Khastar: a Teacher Who Teaches the Lesson of Resistance
Attention is turning to Hashem Khastar, an Iranian retired teacher described as someone who 'teaches the lesson of resistance'. Khastar has been a prominent figure among Iran's teachers' movement, and reports frame him as an example of peaceful defiance and perseverance. Little further detail is available, but the framing places him within ongoing discussion of educators and activists speaking out in Iran.
Why now: Human rights groups and Iranian opposition outlets continue to highlight jailed or persecuted teachers as symbols of resistance against the authorities.
