India and Pakistan to meet in cricket final amid handshake standoff
Original: No handshakes likely as India set up cricket final against Pakistan Jamaica Gleaner http:// jamaica-gleaner.com/article/
India and Pakistan are set to face each other in a cricket final, with reports indicating the traditional pre-match handshake between the two teams is unlikely to take place. Tensions between the sides have already led to players skipping customary gestures during the tournament, underscoring how political strains continue to spill onto the field even at a major sporting occasion.
Why now: Any India-Pakistan final draws huge global attention, and the ongoing refusal to shake hands adds political tension to the sporting showdown.
