Original: Is Congress coming for college sports?
A US congressman joined WGN Radio to discuss whether Congress is preparing to step into college sports, a question gaining traction as lawmakers weigh federal rules on issues like athlete compensation and name, image and likeness deals. The conversation touched on what federal legislation could mean for the NCAA and universities, and whether national standards are needed to replace a patchwork of state laws.
Why now: Federal lawmakers are actively debating legislation on college athlete pay and NIL rules, making congressional involvement a live political question.
