Gordonsville police quietly resumed ICE cooperation a month ago
Original: Gordonsville police quietly resumed working with ICE a month ago. Why didn't Town Council know?
Police in Gordonsville, Virginia, resumed cooperation with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement about a month ago, and the move was not disclosed to the Town Council. The question now dominating local discussion is why town leaders were left in the dark about an agreement with federal immigration authorities, and what oversight, if any, the council will assert over the department going forward.
Why now: Local officials and residents are alarmed that a town department entered a federal immigration agreement without telling its own elected council.
