Tuvalu hosts Pre-COP talks from climate frontline
Original: Pre-COP host Tuvalu at frontline of climate change
Tuvalu, the low-lying Pacific island nation, is hosting the Pre-COP climate negotiations as one of the countries most threatened by rising sea levels. Delegates and observers are focused on how a nation whose very existence is at risk is shaping the agenda ahead of the main UN climate summit, with attention on calls for stronger emissions cuts and support for vulnerable states.
Why now: Tuvalu's role as Pre-COP host puts a country facing existential sea-level rise at the centre of pre-summit climate diplomacy.
